Episode 7 : Some Things Worse than Death

Pike is being sent where the secret truth about the Azimov  1 mission will never get out. But before he goes, there are a few questions to sort out and a revelation that will lead to Veers having Pike dragged out screaming.

These are all very short episodes, ranging from 8-15 minutes, so there’s no reason not to give it a try. It’s a little pulp sci-fi, a little space opera, and written by two guys who have appeared in Star Trek universe fan fic audio dramas and have a deep love for that original series.

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs, episode 6

I actually don’t appear in this one, but I co-wrote it so I’m damn well going to link it. Besides, Joe Stofko has performed brilliantly as Fleet Admiral Veers, and you don’t want to miss this performance either.

SIDE NOTE: I had the pleasure of appearing with Joe in another BrokenSea/Bill Hollweg production – The Strange Fate Of Matthew Hornblower – that you’re going to want to check out if you missed it the first time I posted about it. Me with a New England accent is worth a chuckle any day of the week.

Episode 6 : The Coldness of Space

The Azimov 1 has returned to earth. All investigations have concluded. Tough decisions need to be made. Admiral Veers is a tough man.

Episode 5 : Cursed to Live
Even with more food available than originally thought, reserves are tight and long hours on little food is taking it’s toll on the Azimov-1’s crew. When they started home, there was almost no chance of survival. Now there’s a chance, but it’s not a good one.

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs, episode 4

This is it. This is the episode I have been waiting for to promo this show to everybody. The first three establish it, and this is where it gets weird! I would love if you would listen to everything up to this point and let me know what you think. Then, if you’re interested, keep your eyes peeled for new episodes every month. It’s all-original pulp sci-fi with a high production value — for FREE!

Episode 4 : Sacrifices
The Azimov 1 is hobbling home across the galaxy. Food reserves are waning. Tensions are high. It’s enough to put the closest of relationships to the test.

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs, episode 3

This is the third of seven prequels for 2109 which I co-wrote and voice acted. I’m practically vibrating with anticipation — this is all build-up to episodes 4 & 5. 6 is the denouement and 7 is the epilogue. Then we’re ready for the real story [stories] to begin!

pssst! – rumor has it we may not have to wait a whole month for episode 4, so stay tuned!

How often do you get all-original pulp sci-fi with a high production value — for FREE! — that you can listen to on your commute? And three episodes in the can is a great place to jump in and then pucker up for next month. It’s a win all around!

Also, have a look at the previous episode postings if you want a look at the original script. Since there’s nothing to hide at this point, I figure I’ll post them and going forward I’ll keep posting them a month behind. You may have no use for them, but some people like the extra info, and it’ll give you a point of reference if I mumbled something too incoherently to figure out.

I get to captain a spaceship, this is gonna rock!

Episode 3: The Trip Begins Again
One gravity slingshot and an explosive push later, the crew of the Azimov 1 settles in for the long ride home. The VERY long ride home.

These are all very short episodes, ranging from 8-15 minutes, so there’s no reason not to give it a try. It’s a little pulp sci-fi, a little space opera, and written by two guys who have appeared in Star Trek universe fan fic audio dramas and have a deep love for that original series.

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs, episode 2

This is the second of seven prequels for 2109 which I co-wrote and voice acted, and it’s all I can do to not share them all right now because I’m so proud of how they came out.

Episode 2: A Change of Plans
Good leaders have the knowledge necessary to keep things moving in the right direction. Great leaders have solid instincts and the ability to foster unwavering loyalty in their subordinates so that when troubles arise, the group pulls together and sails through. In this episode, troubles arise and Captain Dyllan Pike’s mettle is put to the test.

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs

I’m VERY excited for this release because I’m enamored with the show as a whole, and also because I co-wrote the prequels that will be coming out over the next six months as promotion for the show that will start releasing next year. The only question is whether I can keep the other 5 (there may actually be another too, I just heard) episodes under wraps until they release officially… Just kidding, I’ll behave, but I won’t lie, I have a favorite episode and I want you all to hear it. For now, let me introduce you to

Episode 1: A Fair Start

The basic concept is that humans have figured out faster-than-light (FTL) travel. Now they’re going to use it to go to the nearest place known: Alpha Centauri. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong.

It’s been too long

In the lab, havin' fun!

I’ve skipped updating for a while because I’ve been dedicating all my free time to soliciting interviews for Warrior Journal, editing Escape Pod, and to myself. It’s selfish, but some time away was needed, and it’s why doing some recording tonight is so sweet! It’s time to get the Asimov 1 on its way again. I’ll be knocking out the prequels tonight and hopefully the rest of the main episodes I owe Bill form Broken Sea. Who knows, maybe I’ll even record some auditions tonight — anything’s possible. I’ll be ‘in the lab’ (if you’re reading this in FB, you can stop by matweller.com to see what that means) for a couple of hours having some fun. Feel free to stop by, but don’t be upset if I don’t chat for too long. I’m going to be making out with the mic all night!

RECORDING: 2109: From the Files of Azimov 1

PRODUCTION: 2109: From the Files of Azimov 1, episode 1/6
PUBLISHER: Brokensea Audio
CHARACTER: Captain Dyllan Pike

I co-wrote this one, so recording is a little extra exciting tonight!
