RELEASED: 2109 Black Sun Rising [s01e01]

2109: Black Sun Rising

This is a Bill Hollweg scripted project for Broken Sea Audio, which may not mean much to you, but those who know him more closely know that he pours himself into his scripts and his production. This is the first arc of an all original pulp sci-fi audio drama adventure, and I have it on good authority that Bill put a lot of heart and soul into this one.

So it’s with great honor that I announce the release of the first episode of 2109: Black Sun Rising. If you listened to the prequel that I co-wrote with Bill, you heard my character, Dyllan Pike, lead the first mission out of our solar system and barely make it back alive. As his hobbled ship limped back home, his fiance was piloting another on the way out. And so opens the first season of 2109.

Please give it a listen and tell Bill what you think. I don’t want to hear what you think, but feel free to heap blind praise upon me. 😉  Seriously, I’m very proud of this and I think you’ll like it for what it is, and the potential for what it may become.

I’m a Parsec Magnet!

I heard the version of Who Goes There that I was lucky to be in was nominated for a Parsec Award this year. So I go over there to look at the list and on the way down I pass an episode of Escape Pod that I produced and then I start thinking, “Well, 2109 should be there too…” and sure enough, it is! Now, I realize that being nominated is completely different than winning, but I must say, I don’t even care about the results, I’m honored to be involved in so many great shows!

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs, episode 2

This is the second of seven prequels for 2109 which I co-wrote and voice acted, and it’s all I can do to not share them all right now because I’m so proud of how they came out.

I get to captain a spaceship, this is gonna rock!

Episode 2: A Change of Plans
Good leaders have the knowledge necessary to keep things moving in the right direction. Great leaders have solid instincts and the ability to foster unwavering loyalty in their subordinates so that when troubles arise, the group pulls together and sails through. In this episode, troubles arise and Captain Dyllan Pike’s mettle is put to the test.

See the bottom of this post for the episode script

These are all very short episodes, ranging from 8-15 minutes, so there’s no reason not to give it a try. It’s a little pulp sci-fi, a little space opera, and written by two guys who have appeared in Star Trek universe fan fic audio dramas and have a deep love for that original series.

NOTE: Ensign Hutchins in this episode is named in tribute to one of my favorite new media sci-fi authors J.C. Hutchins. PLEASE check out his work on a free/pay-what-you-can basis on Podiobooks.com and on his website JCHutchins.net

RELEASED: 2109: Black Sun Rising, the prequel logs

I’m VERY excited for this release because I’m enamored with the show as a whole, and also because I co-wrote the prequels that will be coming out over the next six months as promotion for the show that will start releasing next year. The only question is whether I can keep the other 5 (there may actually be another too, I just heard) episodes under wraps until they release officially… Just kidding, I’ll behave, but I won’t lie, I have a favorite episode and I want you all to hear it. For now, let me introduce you to

Episode 1: A Fair Start

The basic concept is that humans have figured out faster-than-light (FTL) travel. Now they’re going to use it to go to the nearest place known: Alpha Centauri. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong.

This is two weeks in a row! AND I have another Warrior Journal interview on Sunday with Jody Mitic — Google him, he’s phenominal.

Needless to say, I’m having fun in the studio!
